This class is typically held 5 times throughout the year. Class times are 1p to 5p on Saturdays and Sundays for 5 weeks.
All students must sow proof of HIV and Hepatitis B testing clearance prior to enrolling into this class.
This course is designed for the person who is interested in learning more about phlebotomy. Phlebotomy involves extracting blood from patients for further examination and medical tests. Once a vein is located ad punctured with a needle, injection into the vein of the patient and take out a small amount of blood. Phlebotomy is the process of completing this task. A phlebotomist must have the necessary eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity required to draw blood from a live person. This course fully prepares individuals to pass the National Phlebotomy examination. There is extensive training and hands on experience with drawing blood. Additionally, students are taught to complete all the task required to work in a laboratory setting.
